OUR BASIC EDUCATION CURRICULUM

Basic Education Students

The Basic Education Department instructional programs comply with the standard curriculum prescribed by the Department of Education. It adopts the Revised K to 12 Curriculum, designed for students from Kindergarten to Grade 10, and the strengthened Senior High School Curriculum.

Guided by the school's Vision, Mission, and Goals, the various instructional offerings integrate both local and global issues in the treatment of the lessons and infuses technology to create effective and engaging learning experiences that address the interests, talents, learning styles and developmental needs of the learners. It aims to develop the student into a fully functioning person. Christian values and attitudes drawn from the practices and teachings of the Catholic Church and Vincentian Teachings are also emphasized.

Generally, it aims at a holistic formation of the students, which is the harmonious and progressive development of their spiritual, intellectual, social, cultural and physical dimensions.

CHRISTIAN LIVING

Grounded in the Spirit of Christ and the charism of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, the Religious Education is an attempt to respond to the Vision-Mission Statement of the school, the Church and the society.

FILIPINO

An Sining ng Komunikasyon sa Filipino ay ukol sa produktibong pag-aaral ng Wika at Panitikan. Ang pagkakaroon ng kaalaman tungkol sa wikang Filipino ay isang pundasyon upang maging batayan ng kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral sa pakikining, pagbasa, pagsasalita at masusing pag-iisip.

ENGLISH

English offers various ways and opportunities in the acquisition of the competencies in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing and thinking skills. The different literary selections are comprehensively discussed in ach of the high school levels.

MATHEMATICS

Mathematics aims to develop students' skills in comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation. The different areas of Mathematics are: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Business Mathematics, Statistics, Trigonometry and Calculus.

SCIENCE

Science helps to equip the students with intellectual, scientific skills and attitudes which will make him/her cope with the changes, continually discover new and more effective ways of solving daily problems and be more responsive to the needs of the society and to the national development goals.

ARALING PANLIPUNAN

Araling Panlipunan develops civic competence and national identity by integrating concepts from History, Geography, and Social Sciences to analyze Philippine issues.

TECHNOLOGY AND LIVELIHOOD EDUCATION

Technology and Livelihood Education teaches essential technical, livelihood, and entrepreneurial skills across the following areas: Home Economics, Agri-Fishery, Industrial Arts, and ICT

COMPUTER EDUCATION

Computer Education focuses on digital literacy and practical ICT skills (like desktop publishing, web designing and basic programming).

MUSIC, ARTS, P.E. AND HEALTH

MAPED is a holistic subject covering Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health to foster the student's creativity, fitness, and overall well-being.

SPECIAL READING PROGRAM

The Reading Program is a special program for Grades 1 to 3 pupils whose aim is to assist those with reading difficulties as they prepare for the intermediate level. It provides enrichment activities for those who are advanced in terms of reading skills. The program offers various opportunities and means for the acquisition of competencies and skills in the following aspects: vocabulary, comprehension, study/library skills, literary appreciation skills and oral reading.

MATHEMATICS PROGRAM

The Special Mathematics Program attends to the different needs of pupils from Grades 4 to 6. The program includes pre-requisite skills to help pupils' understanding and mastery of academic standards set by the school. Each lesson is introduced in logical sequence and is presented in an organized manner which addresses pupils' needs in a particular area. Thus, differentiated activities are provided to address the pupils' individual needs and learning is facilitated to its fullest.

SPEECH ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

This enrichment program molds students into confident, articulate communicators who can effectively champion their ideas and the college's commitment to Augustinian service. Acquire essential skills for persuasive speaking and effective message delivery.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Student Development Program is a program designed for student leaders and/or students who have the leadership. It aims to develop leadership skills and abilities to produce servant leaders in the near future. It aims to help the students grow and develop into holistic, mature, fully functioning Filipino Christian and Vincentian persons in all aspects as they progress into their search towards a higher level of learning.

Santa Isabel College of Manila prepares students for the rigor and academic demands of higher education. This academic preparation includes both the development of students' knowledge and skills necessary for scholastic success as well as their formation in integrity, creativity, collaboration, leadership, and critical thinking.

The Senior High School aims to achieve this through the standard curriculum prescribed by the Department of Education. The core subjects develop students' appreciation of the social sciences, the arts, culture, brilliance in written and oral communications, and with strong foundation in various subjects, the use and application of technology, and research. The contextualized subjects are subjects with different contents but the same competencies and are also taken by all students regardless of strand. The specialized subjects in the different academic strands will expose the students to the incomparable skills and experiences which can help in their discernment of and for their future college degree.

Work Immersion is a key feature of the Senior High School Curriculum. It can be conducted in different ways, depending on the purposes and needs of the learners. It is incorporated in the curriculum to achieve congruence between education and the nation's development targets. It develops learners' life and career skills, and prepares them to make decisions on post-secondary education or employment.

ACADEMIC STRANDS
ACCOUNTANCY AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (ABM)

The ABM strand equips students with a solid foundation in business principles, accounting practices, and management concepts. It prepares students for further studies in business-related courses in college level or for entry-level positions in various business sectors. It develops students' skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and effective communication, which are valuable in a wide range of career paths in the business world.

HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES (HUMSS)

The HUMSS strand focuses on the study of human society, human interactions and human expressions, and experiences. Theories learned from these strands will help the learners understand local and global problems and eventually engage them on social and civic activities using varied perspectives.

SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS (STEM)

The STEM focuses on developing students knowledge and skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It prepares them for further studies in STEM-related fields in college or for careers in industries such as engineering, computer science, biotechnology, research, and innovation. It equips students with a strong foundation in scientific inquiry, critical thinking, problem-solving, and technological literacy, which are highly valued in the rapidly evolving world of STEM.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
COMPUTER PROGRAMMING

Computer Programming is designed to equip the students with the needed competencies in designing, developing, and writing program codes using various procedural and object-oriented programming languages. Students will learn different debugging techniques in solving problems or issues of a coded program. This program also includes basic knowledge and skills in computer hardware, software, networking, and web design.

MUSIC PROGRAM

Music Program is designed to equip its learners with the skills and knowledge to appreciate and express themselves through music and appreciate music well above rudimentary levels. It aims to foster students’ interest in music as they are immersed in an enriched musical environment that includes singing, playing musical instruments, and composing. It strives to develop compassionate, creative, and well-rounded musicians.

CULINARY ARTS

Culinary Arts provides learners with the knowledge and experiences that will develop their skills as culinary practitioners, professional chef-like skills related to cooking activities, food preparation, and services as seen in commercial food service establishments. It is designed for individuals who aspire to pursue a career in the food industry.
